A member with a deep appreciation for Japanese culture requested an immersive journey beyond the typical tourist experience. Our Tokyo-based specialists designed a ten-day programme that revealed the city's most closely guarded secrets.
The journey included a private audience with a Living National Treasure ceramicist, an invitation-only geisha performance in a historic Kagurazaka ochaya, early-morning access to Tsukiji's inner market with a retired tuna auctioneer, and a private calligraphy lesson with a master at a 400-year-old temple.
Accommodation alternated between a ryokan in the Aman Tokyo tradition and a minimalist suite overlooking the Imperial Palace gardens. Every meal was curated — from a private omakase at a seven-seat sushi counter to a kaiseki dinner in a centuries-old machiya.
